Ingredients:

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 package active dry yeast (2 1/4 tsp)
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter (for filling)
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tbsp butter, softened
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and yeast. In a small saucepan, heat the milk and water together until warm (not hot). Pour the milk mixture into the dry ingredients and stir in the melted butter, salt, and egg. Mix until the dough comes together.
  2. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes, then place it in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for about 1-1.5 hours or until doubled in size.
  3. Once the dough has risen, roll it out into a rectangle. Spread softened butter over the dough, then sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon. Roll the dough up tightly and slice into 12 pieces.
  4. Place the rolls in a greased baking dish and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  5. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  6. While the rolls are baking, make the cream cheese icing by beating together powdered sugar, cream cheese, butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  7. Once the rolls are done, remove them from the oven and drizzle with the cream cheese icing. Serve warm.
