Ingredients:
- 4 cups bread flour
- 1 ½ cups warm water
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
- 1 tbsp active dry yeast
- 1 egg
- 2 tbsp pineapple juice (for a slight tropical flavor)
Instructions:
- In a small bowl, dissolve the sugar in warm water. Add the yeast and let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- In a large bowl, mix the bread flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture, butter, egg, and pineapple juice. Stir to combine into a dough.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise for 1–1.5 hours or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough, shape it into a loaf, and place it in a greased loaf pan.
- Let the dough rise for 30–40 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake for 25–30 minutes, until golden brown and the bread sounds hollow when tapped.
- Cool before slicing.
